Welcome to Myrtle Cup Matches.
Welcome to the Myrtle Cup Matches official website. The Myrtle Cup Matches is an annual golf event organized by Santo Manna and Marc Wyttenbach, with the assistance of countless others, and features a 6-round matchplay tournament involving Canadian and U.S. teams of 16 players, as well as low net and low gross championships, all based on official tournament handicaps.
The Myrtle Cup Matches competition was established to allow teams of Canadian and U.S. golfers to compete in a matchplay format, a rare opportunity for amateur golfers, and to foster goodwill and promote friendship amongst the players, teammates and opponents alike. The event provides the opportunity to make new friends and renew old acquaintances, to share some laughs and have a good time, and to enjoy some of the finest golf courses the U.S. and Canada have to offer, all in a convivial golf setting that changes every year.
The defining characteristics of the Myrtle Cup Matches are INTEGRITY and FAIR PLAY. It should be inconceivable that a player would sacrifice these principles for personal gain or to seek undue advantage for his team. By the same token, we expect that the competition will be played, and the players will treat each other at all times both on and off the golf course, in the civilized and respectful manner that should always be expected of gentlemen in the great game of golf. In this manner, we present Myrtle Cup Matches as an opportunity for its participants to contribute positively to the legacy of the game.

"I only know that there was a time when I did not play golf, and then after a blurred interval came the time when I played it with a fire of enthusiasm not yet extinguished!"
- Bernard Darwin, 1928
